Toyota, Daihatsu join forces on minicars in emerging Asia- Nikkei Asian Review
TOKYO -- Toyota Motor and Daihatsu announced on Tuesday they plan to set up a joint company unit by sometime around January in order to enhance their compact car business in emerging markets in Asia.Daihatsu, a small car specialist, will take the lead role in developing the vehicles, likely to be in the 1- to 1.3-liter class, targeting Thailand, Indonesia and other markets.It will also seek to consolidate its parts supply chain.
