(18 NEWS) - High school and college students traveled from Philadelphia to New York State to compete in the 13th Annual Toyota Green Grand Prix at Watkins Glen International Friday. The students and officials at Watkins Glen International will have a dinner to award the winner Friday night. For over a decade the Green Grand Prix has been putting a spotlight on educating young people on motoring technology that aims for a cleaner environment through engine and driving efficiencies. This weekend is opening weekend for the track. The wintry weather did not stop students from spending the day racing fuel-efficient vehicles on the track.

Brazilian Helio Castroneves will start from the pole position in Sunday's Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach IndyCar Series race for the third consecutive year and fourth time overall. (Published Sunday, April 9, 2017)The pole victory was Castroneves' first since last year's Long Beach race. Castroneves also won the pole in 2001 race, the only year he won in Long Beach. The field of 21 drivers was reduced to 12 for the second qualifying session and six for the final session.
