Truex has Certain every 7 days he's the driver to win in this championship race, & did it once more Sunday by working by his Furniture Row Racing team to steadily get better his vehicle out of the premier 2 stages of the race. He wasn't the strongest early — the premier 2 phase victories went to Kevin Harvick, & Truex didn't earn phase one playoff points for the premier time ever ever July — however he was untouchable by the last segment.

CONCORD, N.C. — Standing following to his vehicle in victory lane, in this season he never thought possible, Martin Truex Jr. struggled by his emotions. Truex has 2 wins in the playoffs & this 1 was the premier time in this format which Toyota has won a race in this round of postseason. Truex won in overtime after 2 late cautions created additional laps & forced Truex to hold off fellow Toyota driver Denny Hamlin on a pair of restarts. He seemed to be as perfect as Truex late in the race, however an awful pit stop — his tire carrier tripped & fell — dropped him to 12th. Earlier in the race, Larson missed his pit box & the gaffe knocked him to 31st in the field.
