2018 Toyota 86 Quick Take Review

I had my first go in the Toyota 86 when I attended the Toyota Driving Academy at Willow Springs. I heard a Toyota 86 had just arrived at our office and closing my eyes I prayed for a manual. Starting at $26,975, the base model Toyota 86 has a 2.0-liter flat-four boxer engine that supplies 200 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque mated to a six-speed automatic. Driving the Toyota 86 on the long stretches of two-lane roads was a liberating experience that I didn't want to end. The 2018 Toyota 86 is back to basics type of sports car that isn't necessarily terrible with an automatic transmission.

2018 Toyota Century is a $180,000 Japanese Rolls-Royce

Toyota announced this week that the 2018 Century will set buyers back a cool ¥19.6 million, or about $180,000 at today's exchange rate. ToyotaYou won't see any Toyota badges on the Century, though -- the phoenix that adorns its front grille is hand-engraved over a period of six weeks. Even the rear is devoid of the Toyota name, displaying only "Century" in big letters across the trunk. While the last century used a big ol' V12 for motive force, the new Century relies on something a bit less thirsty. The order books are now open for the new Century, and Toyota hopes to sell about 50 a month.
