Toyota confirms straight-six power for Supra with new teaser

Toyota threw out a new teaser for the Supra, this time showing off its rear end. Before you get too excited about seeing the production Supra, be aware that the production-ready version of the Supra isn't coming to Goodwood. Prototype or not, we're excited to see what Toyota has in store for Goodwood. The Festival of Speed kicks off in southern England later this week, so we don't have much longer to wait.


Toyota Will Build a Four-Cylinder Supra

In this document, the Toyota Supra gets multiple entries under both the J29 and GT86 platform designations. The document also lists the new BMW Z4, which shares a platform with the Supra but gets its own platform designation, G29. Tada also elaborated, saying the four-cylinder Supra will be lighter, with "much better weight distribution" and a sharper-feeling turn-in. Tada also remarked that, for the Supra owners who plan to swap in a 2JZ engine, "please buy the four-cylinder. The BMW engineering behind the Supra was also very apparent when Toyota ran a prototype at Goodwood last weekend.
